Starting with unhandled youngsters to producing mentally and physically conditioned athletes, the EMcC Team prepare the horses to perform on the world-renowned Irish horseracing circuit.

Thoroughbred Breaking And
Pre-Training

We offer your horse the right start to their race season, preparing them both physically and mentally for the challenges that full-time training may bring. Using our knowledge and experience of strength, conditioning and education, programmes will be designed to suit your horse’s individual needs.

Training

We are fortunate to have been successful, both on the racecourse and the point to point field, proving our versatility in training. Our facilities are a breath of fresh air, a stark contrast from the environment of a busy training centre. Some horses simply thrive better in a less intense environment and your horse may just benefit from a change of scenery.

Rehabilitation

Our facilities at Streame have been designed with rehabilitation in mind. We are also blessed to have Fethard Equine Hospital and other renowned equine practitioners on our doorstep. Whatever the injury, ailment or illness may be, you can be confident it will be addressed with upmost expertise professionalism and discretion. All while in a pleasant, comfortable and safe environment for your horse.

Our success rate of returning horses to winning ways speaks for itself. We have successfully rehabilitated horses who have suffered tendon injuries, fractures, colic and EIPH (bleeding).

Retirement

Here at EMcC Racing, we aim wherever possible to ensure that our horses go on to enjoy second careers after they have finished racing. There are so many options for ex-racers now it would be a shame for them not to avail of the opportunities. From a basic “happy-hacker”, to dressage, showjumping, cross-country, hunting, polo, showing etc. thoroughbreds can be amazingly versatile! The Association Racehorse to Riding Horse Ireland, founded by Julie Morris has created a great outlet for ex-racers in Ireland in recent years. Organising various different classes from Retraining (the most basic class for newcomers), to Open, Unraced Thoroughbreds, Performance(jumping), and Racehorse to Hunt classes, their classes are at various county shows, and they are also associated with the Racehorse to Riding Horse Class at the RDS Dublin Horse Show, which is supported by Irish Thoroughbred Marketing.

We love to keep in contact with our ex-racers and their new owners, and appreciate it when they send us updates and pictures of the horses in their new roles, and share their adventures and successes when out competing in dressage, showjumping, eventing, and so forth.
